Instrument Rating - IR

ACS Aviation is Scotland's specialist for Instrument Rating training. We operate 2 Piper Seneca aircraft and a matched FNPTII sim; this provides continuity for training and an easy transition from the procedural trainer to the aircraft.

The aim of the course is to train the student to safely and effectively command a multi-engine aeroplane under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) with an approach to land down to a minimum decision height of 200ft (60m).

The course for a multi-engine IR(A) entails 55 hours of instruction in instrument flying which is divided into 40 hours in the Flight and Navigation Procedure Trainer (FNPT II) and 15 hours in our Seneca II aircraft.

Students holding a CPL(A) issued in accordance with ICAO may have the training course reduced by 5 hours, which must be taken off the time on the FNPT II. Students holding an IR(H) may have the training course reduced to 10 hours as a minimum.

ACS Flight Training provide professional training which is recognised in the airline industry. In addition to recruiting for our sister company Air Charter Scotland, we have kept contact with our recent students now working with:-

Jet2, Loganair, Ryanair, Easyjet, DHL, and others

Our Commercial instructors range from career instructors who have previously operated training schools to current airline training captains. Our depth of experience reflects the excellent pass rate we have without additional training.

While we regularly hold open days you are welcome to visit our facilities for a chat anytime - just give us a call.

Students benefit from a tailored program ensuring they get maximum benefit and value. Our commitment to deliver first rate training is reflected in the pass rates we have maintained. Our reputation of producing competent professional pilots continues with our graduates quickly securing employment across a wide range of operators.
